Alrighty then. It's October. It's time to speak scary. This year we focused not so much on movies, but on moments. Yes, that means Pee Wee makes the list. It's justified.

  1. I listened to this podcast in October and I haven't had time to come on here and leave you my thoughts, but I want you to know I still listen...I'm just very very busy at work now (my main listening time).

So first off The Ring messed me up for at least 3 months!! As well The Grudge did. I used to park on the bottom level in my work parking structure (4 flights down) I was seriously running up those stairs and I had to turn around and look as the door was closing to make sure I didn't see a creepy face looking at me!! Not to mention the constantly looking over my shoulder in the dark. Seriously those Japanese have the scare factor down!! I heard on the radio that according to critics The Ring is the scariest movie of all time. They judged it based on the screams, jumps, and reactions from the audience that the movie produced.

Also, Strangers has got to be one of the most real life messed up scary movies. This could actually happen!! Well it did. That movie was based on a true story that happened up in Montana. When I first saw it in my basement apartment I had to turn it off 3 times. I couldn't watch it all in one sitting! Plus being in the basement apartment I had the hardest time going to sleep at night thinking about who could get in! Well thinking about "The Strangers" getting in and zombies. Basement apartments are crap all around! No light and you're the first die if crazies come a calling!!!

Ps- Doors can be scary if they open or close when you don't expect it. Just sayin.

  2. The Ring was pretty eerie. Scary though? i dont think that it was. There are two kinds of scary. The scary that makes you jump in your seat and throw your popcorn and the scary that makes you feel like this is something that could happen to me. With this in mind, Jurassic Park scarred me (dont laugh). i remember jumping a few times when i first saw that movie. I dont think that anyone would call it a scary movie though.
When i first saw The Silence of the Lambs back in high school i was scarred for about the last 30 minutes of it, basically after Hannibal escaped. This scarred me cause it was real. The plot here could be one that was pulled from a police record somewhere and in fact Lecter was a composite of a few different real serial killers. I remember watching that night vision scene and being grabbed by my brother on the arm and about hopping through the ceiling! After it ended my girlfriend wanted to hang out. as i was driving over there i remember constantly looking in the rearview so see if someone had decided to crawl into the bed of the truck i was driving. i even did this all the way home a few hours later.
Then there are movies like Insidious and Paranormal Activity. Both scarred me by making me just and they both had plots that could and have happened. Hauntings are something i believe in so while these movies didnt keep me awake or have me looking around the corners of my house with a mirror on the end of a brookstick, while i was watching them i was scarred.
